Hazel Lim was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of High Court of Malaya in April 2016.

She commenced her pupillage at Messrs Shook Lin & Bok under the tutelage of Mr. Lau Kee Sern. Upon completion of her pupillage, she continued her legal career at Messrs Shook Lin & Bok as a legal associate of the Banking and Finance Litigation department. She joined Messrs Kee Sern, Siu & Huey as a legal associate in 2018 and was made a partner of Messrs Kee Sern, Siu & Huey in 2022.

Hazel practises in the field of civil and commercial litigation, with particular focus on banking and finance litigation. She advises and acts for major banking and financial institutions in complex court proceedings, garnishee proceedings, discovery actions, applying for and resisting an injunction, debt recovery actions including high stakes debt recovery actions involving civil, foreclosure, execution, bankruptcy and winding-up proceedings.

She also has experience in dealing with employment disputes, construction-related disputes, company and shareholders disputes as well as matters involving corporate restructuring and insolvency, and receivership.

LEGAL EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE

  1. Acted for a Bank in an action brought by a contributory and an unsecured creditor of a company in liquidation, to set aside a consent judgment entered under s.236(1)(c) Companies Act between, inter alia, the Bank, the liquidator and a third party.
  2. Acted for a financial institution in resisting a discovery application brought by an individual who claimed to be a customer of the financial institution more than 20 years ago and successfully struck out his said application.
  3. Acted for a Bank in defending an action brought by a customer of the Bank seeking for, inter alia, damages in relation to purported negligence in performing a telegraphic transfer transaction. 
  4. Acted for a Bank in defending an action brought by a third-party involving allegation of negligence in opening of bank account and cashing of cheques by an imposter. 
  5. Acted for various financial institutions in setting aside ex-parte restraining order obtained by a creditor of a company in liquidation.
  6. Acted for local and international corporations in winding-up proceedings against local and international company.
  7. Acted for a financial institution in resisting an application brought by a creditor of a company in liquidation to remove the liquidator of the said company.
  8. Acted for a Bank in defending an action brought by a customer of the Bank involving allegations of negligence in the redemption of property.
